Living overseas can profitably enhance personal career and as well become adventurous. Relocation has never been a bad idea, in fact the fundamental human rights of the United Nations supports migration – mobility that respects the laws of the host country and one that contributes to the growth of their economy is the delight for every nation.
However, as much as it sounds good to explore opportunities tolive overseas, putting travel intention behind is as good as not starting at all. You got your visas, booked your flight and ready to fly, only to realise that your purpose is lesser than the efforts put in place to secure your exit.
Unarguably, migrants have the right of movement, but clearly established and unambiguous travel objectives can help reduce migration hazards significantly among the youth. Undocumented migrants are exposed to unknown risks due to insufficient information and lack of awareness about prevailing realities at the receiving countries. Risks of inappropriate migration in some cases can become severe and life-threatening, even leading to death. Predominant consequences of poor migration attempts are usually prostitution, forced labour, health hazards, drug related crimes, boat accidents, fatal desert experiences and creating societal nuisance to the host countries sometimes.
The international communities are making efforts to ensure the world is safe by supporting intending and existing migrants with opportunities to enable them become legally documented migrants. One of such efforts is contained in the Action Plan of Valleta Summit on Migration 2015 (Article 2, page 7-9 titled: Legal Migration and Mobility…promoting regular channels for migration and mobility from and between European and African countries). The Action Plan clearly enumerates such alternatives as inter-agency cooperation on job placement, strengthening cooperation on pre-departure measures such as foreign language and vocational training, lawful resident programmes, joint labourprogrammes, increase in research, exchange and study programmes, Erasmus+ education exchange system, SME based growth migration, ease of visa procedures for honest migrants and improved family settlementprogrammes among others. Opportunities of such are also well pronounced by the American government for migrants of diverse origin who intend to live in the United States.

Statistics has shown that most travel intentions among the youths of African origin migrating to the West especially are economically induced. Even at that, getting right information and establishing well planned goals and objectives helps secure healthy stay overseas. To be continued…
